In line with the vision of National Education Bureau (Diknas) of Medan,
Sampoerna Academy in Medan donates 60 personal computers to SMPN 10 Medan.
Medan, 25 November 2019 – Sampoerna Academy as the international school with the best tailored curriculum (IEYC, Cambridge, IBDP), supported by STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning method always shows its commitment to helping improve the education quality in Indonesia by not only educating the best talents in Medan, Jakarta, and Surabaya, but also by donating 60 personal computers to a public school in Medan today. Sampoerna Academy now operates in 3 big cities, i.e. Jakarta, Surabaya, and Medan. Especially in Medan, Sampoerna Academy (previously known as Piaget Academy School Medan) has been operating for more than 13 years and its track record is widely known in Medan as the best and biggest international school in town that have graduated high achieving students with international achievements. In February 2020, 5 students of Sampoerna Academy Medan will receive accolades in Jakarta from Cambridge because of their highest scores in the world.
As the real undertaking of providing the best education with an international quality from playgroup, elementary, junior high school, and senior high school, in its learning processes, Sampoerna Academy also strives to sharpen its students’ ability comprising 5C skills (Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativity, and Character) so that students are expected to be more sensitive to themselves, society, and environment. Furthermore, to improve students’ empathy towards society they live in and to help achieve the vision of Education Bureau of Medan (i.e. improving the qualification and competence of educators and teachers), Sampoerna Academy shows its empathy by building a computer lab and donating 60 units of desktop computer to SMP Negeri 10 Medan. The high school is chosen as it is located near Sampoerna Academy Citra Garden campus. It is also known for its high achieving students yet still needs assistance to improve the IT facilities.
Sampoerna Academy Concern over Education Quality
“Sampoerna Academy is very concerned about the education quality improvement in Indonesia and STEAM. Considering students’ potential at SMP Negeri 10 Medan, we are willing to support them to achieve more. The grant of a computer lab and 60 personal computers is one of our ways to show empathy as a fellow school and to motivate, support the education quality improvement, and serves as our appreciation of Medanese people for having welcome us and supporting
Sampoerna Academy to be the best international school in Medan,” stated Hugo Liz De Castro, Head of School at Sampoerna Academy in Medan.
At last, we expect that the support Sampoerna Academy Medan has given to SMP Negeri 10 Medan can improve the school’s learning processes, which later enhances students’ quality and achievement. This also coincides with the National Teacher’s Day in November 25th, 2019.
